The NAKBA: the Holocaust of the Palestinians
Jewish organizations that work for Palestinian human rights

compiled by Michael R. Burch, an editor and publisher of Holocaust Poetry

Here are more than 200 hyperlinks to predominantly Jewish organizations that are speaking out for equal human rights, freedom and justice for Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims.

The fact that so many Jewish organizations oppose the Israeli government's racial injustices and human rights violations tells us quite clearly that Israel has been violating the human rights of Palestinians. This has been going on for over 60 years, ever since the Nakba ("Catastrophe") of the Palestinian people in 1948. Men of peace like Mohandas Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu and Jimmy Carter have explained simply and eloquently why Israel's racist policies and actions are wrong. The links below will verify that Jews of good conscience are completely aware of the problems, and working to correct them. Some of the people associated with the groups below have used their bodies as "human shields" to protect Palestinian children and farm families from Israeli soldiers: doesn't the fact that "human shields" are needed tell us something is very wrong? But the government of Israel is not listening or mending its ways, and this is endangering the lives of American children and American soldiers. Why should our children and soldiers die, because Israel chooses to practice racism? As Reza Aslan recently pointed out, ninety percent of the people at the U.S. State Department agree with Muslim imams who say the U.S. government is at least partly responsible for 9-11 and the subsequent wars (because the suffering and deaths of completely innocent Muslim women and children have driven some distraught Muslim men to forcefully oppose our government's policies and actions; they consider us terrorists and are fighting fire with fire). Americans did what we had to do by abandoning Jim Crow laws, kangaroo courts and government-sanctioned racism. Now Israel must do the same, quickly, before we find ourselves engaged in World War III.

Justice, Justice shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. (Deuteronomy XVI, 18:20) The footnote in the Hertz edition reads: “(T)here is international justice, which demands respect for the personality of every national group, and proclaims that no people can of right be robbed of its national life or territory, its language or spiritual heritage.”

Learn to do well – seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow ... Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and they that return of her with righteousness.(Isaiah 1:17,27)

If all afflictions in the world were assembled on one side of the scale and poverty on the other, poverty would outweigh them all. (Exodus Rabbah, Mishpatim 31:14)
